“Yes In My Back Yard” Public Awareness Display Setup
This amazing display came directly form the Virginia Museum of Contemporary Art. The facts within this exhibit come from research from Old Dominion University. The information below will help you to figure out how to display the Doors in your context.

Doors can either be propped up in a chair using the back of the chair to lean against or can be placed on tables and leaned back against a wall.

Each of the five doors displays a current myth around homelessness and/or affordable housing in our city, our region and our state.

Each white sign (see color coded emblem on rear of sign to match with the correct color display door) states the factual information that disproves the myth described on the face of the door.

When setting up and attaching the signs to the doors, place the correct color coded sign on the door knob of the color coded door and slide to the right leaving enough room to clearly read the myth displayed on the door. To attach the sign to the door, roll three small pieces of painters tape (painter’s tape is important because it can be removed easily when display is taken down without damaging either the sign or the door) around your finger and place along the left rear side of the sign. Once you are sure the sign is level, press the left side of the sign against the door to secure it.
Tripod for the large sign and individual education booklets are provided with the exhibit. Recycling the booklets to be able to travel with the exhibit would be appreciated for printing and environmental purposes.
