Open Table

About the program

In 2019, the IAB partnered with the Department of Human Services to bring the Open Table Model to Virginia Beach. That fall, three Tables with members from various faith communities launched.

Volunteers commit to serve for one year and meet weekly with an individual or family who lacks a natural support system.

​

Volunteers are required to complete 10 hours of training which is offered in two-hour segments over a five-week period. The training is offered twice a year, in the Spring and in the Fall. Applications are accepted year round.
